Server Software:
Microsoft Small Business Server (2003 or 2008) is an excellent server operating system providing the basis for your network. One physical server can host many different server roles making it very economical, including:
- Network Server: One central, high-availability machine that will allow you to save documents in a central place allowing employees to share the same information.
- Application Server: A central point for an application that your employees can share and work on concurrently - maybe accountancy, CRM, warehousing, marketing or database software. This is a highly efficient way to work.
- Print Server: Share one printer between your employees - this can be extended to sharing sanning and faxing facilities
- Email Server: Host your own email to allow you to share mailboxes, calendars, contacts etc. Microsoft Exchange is a world leader in email management
- Firewall Server: Protect your network from outside and control what your employees can do on the internet. Microsoft ISA is a major firewall solution
- Database Server: Store you database in Microsoft SQL Server - one of the main database products in the world.
